Data broker

Data broker (people-search aggregator)

Definition

A company that collects and resells personal details such as home addresses, phone numbers and relatives.

In plain words

People-search sites build profiles from public records and consumer data. Anyone can look a person up for a small fee or for free.

Why it matters to a firm

These profiles give a fraudster the names, numbers and addresses that make a forged email or a phone call believable. LeakTrace does not perform data-broker removal.

How anyone can check it

Search your own name and city on two or three people-search sites and read what they list.
